Le Bistro d'Henri: Paris

Date:  19 mars 2010
Location:  16 Rue Princesse, 75006 Paris, France

As usual... taking to town alone by foot and eating through little neighborhoods... meeting interesting strangers along the way.  some locals, some also travelers.  all sharing the same love for good food and drink.

on this particular night, i dined amongst 2 other married couples and 2 older gentlemen.  it became one grand dinner as the 7 of us strangers joined in on luvly conversation in a tiny dining room (seats about 9 the tiny space) about the cities where we were from, and how we came to visit paris... and the dishes we loved at le bistrot d'henri... a living room favorite of theirs.

Perfect french bistro... traditional French home cooking with largely French clientele (not tourists).  Dont expect michelin fine dining but rather, perfect, classic, boutique, French!  Great flavors, simple, and perfect.  And yes, affordable.  ^^

I started with bottled water and glass of house vino,  as usual in Paris.

Then onto a delicious and simple salad, fresh tomato, sundried tomato, and mozzarella.

For my entree I ordered what Le Bistro d'Henri is known for, their famous lamb shank falling off the bone - cooked SEVEN HOURS!  It was served with scalloped potatoes on the serving plate alone first... then the mouth watering lamb shank in its own serving bowl... every morsel fell apart in my mouth and melted!  Et voila!!  Finally, I finished my amazing meal with creme brulee and un cafe.  Delightful and soooo savory... and absolutely French.

Soledad, there is a good seafood restaurant right around the corner: La Mediterranée at 2 place de L'odeon. Probably a few more tourists here but I've really enjoyed the food. Have been several times.
